Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the mission of your chamber?
To serve the needs of our members and promote tourism and other economic development.
Who is the chamber?
The chamber is a voluntary member organization whose members are local businesses, non-profit agencies and individuals who are concerned with the socio-economic climate of the Black River Falls area.
Who provides leadership?
The chamber is run by its members. The members elect a Board of Directors who set policies and goals. The officers are elected by the Board of Directors. Members are encouraged to take an active role in the chamber, whether it is at board level or committee level. The everyday operations of the chamber are handled by the executive director and staff.
Joining the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce is your chance to:
- Be included in our member directory. We distribute 32,000 promo books at Wisconsin Tourism Information Centers, sport shows, other chambers and in response to the thousands of direct requests we receive each year.
- Be a part of our Business Referral System. Did you know that we receive over 4,500 calls per year? For those inquiries with questions about local area businesses, chamber member referrals are a great benefit of being a chamber member.
- Be listed in our website membership directory and receive a direct link to your website from this website. (Go ahead….look around! There’s TONS of information on here for prospective members and for tourists planning to visit our area.) Our marketing committee spends many hours promoting our website alone!
- Link your business to our website at no charge! (TIP: did you know that if you link your website to a site that is visited quite often and is related to your field of business it may give you a higher page ranking?)
- As a chamber member you can take advantage of the new learning seminar series sponsored by the chamber. The WWTC Black River Falls Campus is co-sponsoring this learning series.
- Place your brochure or business card in the chamber office where almost 4,000 walk-in visitors per year will see it!
- Attend or host a business after 5. Every month, 50 to 100 of our local business leaders share ideas, make new friends, and have an opportunity to chat with old friends while enjoying snacks and beverages. While making new friends and visiting, this also gives you and your business a great chance to get the word out about your business. Did you know that many say that the best method of marketing is often times word of mouth?
- Participate in our Chamber Bucks Program. Over $60,000 was spent this year on Chamber Bucks, which is money staying right here in Jackson County and is spendable at over 80 member-owned businesses.
- Receive our monthly newsletter. Just one more way to keep abreast of what is going on in your business community. Our newsletter is also a cost-efficient way to advertise business-to-business.
- Give back to the community by volunteering to serve on a Chamber committee. For example, our Ambassadors are fast becoming some of the best-known folks in the community. They host Business after 5 and the Annual Dinner, conduct Industry Tours and make reminder phone calls to fellow members regarding upcoming events. They also sponsor the Business of the Year and Customer Service of the Year Awards.
- Be a contender for the Business of the Year Award and the Customer Service of the Year award. At the BRACC Annual Dinners the award recipients will be recognized for their achievements.
